Sealing test of nonwoven fabrics in different thicknesses with Ultrasonic dot-line sealer L-QP-01

We tested welding of  four different thickness of nonwoven fabrics with Ultrasonic dot-line sealer L-QP-01.

The ultrasonic dot-line sealer L-QP-01 welds materials in a dot-line pattern without using adhesives or tapes.
It is used by rotating and sliding the gear tip on the handpiece.
Sealing can be done while drawing dot lines, and can be used for sheet materials such as non-woven fabrics.

Since we launched Ultrasonic dot-line Sealer L-QP-01, we have received more inquiries from different fields and for more various applications and situations than when we only sold Ultrasonic point sealer QP-01.

This time we carried out welding tests with non-woven fabrics, which are frequently inquired about both domestically and internationally.

■Welding samples (Non-woven fabric: polypropylene)

1．0.1mm nonwoven fabric (white)  ; 0.2mm in 2 sheets
2．0.2mm nonwoven fabric (black)  ; 0.4mm in 2 sheets
3．0.3mm nonwoven fabric (red)  ; 0.6mm in 2 sheets
4．0.4mm nonwoven fabric (gray)  ; 0.8mm in 2 sheets

1．0.1mm nonwoven fabric (white)  ; 0.2mm in 2 sheets

If the sheet is too thin, it may not be welded or the welding strength is too weak and it may peel off easily.
However, this time (2 sheets of 0.1 mm x 2 sheets) were successfully welded.

2．0.2mm nonwoven fabric (black)  ; 0.4mm in 2 sheets

It was welded well and had good weld strength.

3．0.3mm nonwoven fabric (red)  ; 0.6mm in 2 sheets

The 0.3mm non-woven fabric was also welded firmly and with good welding strength.

4．0.4mm nonwoven fabric (gray)  ; 0.8mm in 2 sheets

The welding strength was not a problem.
However, welding speed was slow because the material was thicker than others.
Since the rotational speed of the wheel tip is slow (it takes more time to weld one spot), some people may consider it ineffective to weld a wide area of thick material with the L-QP-01.

In this welding test, all four types of nonwoven fabrics (0.1 mm, 0.2 mm, 0.3 mm, and 0.4 mm) were weldable.
In the case of two nonwoven fabrics of 0.4mm, the speed was slower, but they could be successfully welded.

Ultrasonic dot-line sealer L-QP-01 is very useful when you want to fasten small parts that are difficult to adhere with a normal sealer or when you want to fix them without using adhesives.
However, the seal quality will change depending on the type and thickness of the material.
